Women in esports are underserved, underrepresented and grossly underpaid.
Despite making up nearly half of the gaming community, only 5% of professional esports athletes are women (and none of them rank among the sport’s top 500 earners).
Male-dominated esports events outnumber women’s events in both prize pool and scale, leaving women in esports with far fewer opportunities to go pro.
We created The Milk Cup, a groundbreaking tournament series for women gamers, by women gamers, in partnership with @ThePeachCobbler, Women of the eRena (WOTE), Moonrock, and Raidiant, a women-led gaming production team.
The $250,000 series prize pool is the largest for any women’s esports event in North American history, and it all culminated in the first-ever women’s Fortnite LAN Championship event, live from L.A. Comic Con.
The series, which will return in 2025, is a massive step toward closing the equity gap in professional gaming and creating more opportunities for women more consistently in the space.
